Job Description
Responsibilities
- Plan and execute a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy that aligns with the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and university wide branding initiatives.
- Develop strategic content that demonstrates the impact of ALCE and FAEIS programs, research, and people to support enrollment, philanthropy, and institutional reputation.
- Manage and optimize digital and print content for FAEIS and ALCE, including websites, social media, and publications.
- Maintain accurate, accessible, and strategically aligned content; support the development of digital and print materials; ensure compliance with Virginia Tech brand, editorial standards, and digital accessibility requirements.
- Collaborate with colleagues across FAEIS, ALCE, and the college marketing and communications team to ensure support, resources, and alignment.
- Identify key audiences with leadership and develop targeted communications and marketing plans that drive measurable impact.
- Eligible for a hybrid work arrangement; reside within commuting distance to Blacksburg, VA with weekly on campus presence.
- Maintain a dotted line relationship with CALS Marketing and Communications to ensure alignment with college priorities, shared standards, and professional development.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in communications, marketing, agricultural communications, or a related field, or a bachelor’s degree with relevant experience.
- Experience developing and implementing strategic marketing and communications plans.
- Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
- Experience with digital communications platforms, web content management systems, and social media.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and project management skills.

Job Description
The Food and Agricultural Education Information System (FAEIS) and the Department of Agricultural, Leadership, and Community Education (ALCE) seek a Marketing and Communications Manager to lead and implement marketing and communications activities in support of the vision and strategic direction of the FAEIS program and ALCE department. This position is responsible for planning and executing a comprehensive communications and marketing strategy that aligns with the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and university branding.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in higher education, agriculture, or Extension.
- Familiarity with Virginia Tech brand standards and communications practices.
- Experience with analytics, measurement, and performance reporting.
Overtime Status
Exempt: Not eligible for overtime.

Salary Information
USD 55,000 - 65,000 per year.
Hours per Week
40 hours per week.
