The Marketing and Communications Coordinator supports enrollment growth, student retention, public awareness, and community engagement for the Matanuska-Susitna Borough School District by planning and executing districtwide marketing and communications initiatives. Based in Palmer, Alaska, with remote capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement district marketing and communications strategies aimed at increasing enrollment, enhancing retention, and boosting public awareness.
- Plan and coordinate campaigns that highlight district programs, opportunities, services, and initiatives.
- Oversee advertising efforts across print, digital, social media, and other communication channels.
- Support the maintenance and strengthening of the district's branding standards and visual identity.
- Track performance using data, enrollment trends, and public feedback to identify opportunities to improve visibility, reputation, enrollment, and retention.
- Create marketing materials such as brochures, ads, presentations, digital content, videos, graphics, and other resources.
- Utilize K-12 mass communication tools to draft and distribute urgent announcements, text alerts, and district updates.
- Assist with photography, videography, storytelling, and content development to feature district programs, staff, students, and achievements.
- Support digital communications and public outreach through district social media, websites, and CMS platforms.
- Collaborate with the Public Information Officer and Superintendent to align with district communication priorities.
- Work with district leadership, principals, and departments to identify and promote key programs, initiatives, and student opportunities.
- Assist with planning, coordinating, and promoting district events, recruitment activities, and community engagement efforts.
- Maintain positive working relationships with staff, students, families, community organizations, and external partners.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Preferred qualifications include a degree, training, or professional experience in marketing, communications, journalism, public relations, business, graphic design, or related field.
- Demonstrated experience developing marketing campaigns, creating promotional materials, managing branding efforts, and using communication and design tools.
