Job Description
Charles County Government's Economic Development Department offers a collaborative environment focused on growing the county's business community. This onsite role in White Plains, Maryland provides the opportunity to lead marketing and communications efforts, shape content, and coordinate projects that connect local businesses with opportunities. The position is exempt, with a salary range of USD 62,723 to 101,611 per year, and telework eligibility is available. Reporting to the Deputy Director, you will collaborate with staff, consultants, vendors, and partners to advance marketing and outreach initiatives.

Responsibilities
- Assist in developing and implementing the department's marketing and outreach efforts in line with overall messaging and directed by the manager or Deputy Director.
- Interface directly with consultants and vendors.
- Coordinate and maintain website and digital communication content, including social media, e-newsletters, online calendars, and promotional campaigns, ensuring materials are timely, accurate, engaging, and consistent with branding.
- Identify opportunities for website and digital communications improvements and coordinate updates with consultants, vendors, and staff as needed.
- Develop content for traditional media such as print advertising, brochures, and other collateral.
- Coordinate the development of visual and creative elements such as graphics, photography, videography, and branded materials in collaboration with consultants, vendors, County staff, or other partners.
- Coordinate media requests and public relations outreach efforts in collaboration with department leadership and staff.
- Serve as the department's primary content writer and copywriting coordinator, developing, drafting, editing, proofreading, and coordinating written content across platforms including social media, newsletters, blogs, reports, presentations, website content, press materials, and other initiatives.
- Ensure written materials maintain consistent branding, messaging, tone, professionalism, and audience alignment across communications and marketing.
- Work with consultants, media, brokers, vendors, and prospective and existing businesses.
- Support planning, execution, promotion, and development of reports for the annual Economic Development Fall Meeting, Business Appreciation Week, business visitation program, Quarterly Business Roundtables, and other programs and events.
- Organize and distribute marketing materials for site selectors and business prospects under the Deputy Director's supervision.
- Coordinate with photographers, videographers, media outlets, publications, and digital marketing providers to support marketing initiatives and projects.
- Assist with identifying media outlets, marketing opportunities, and promotional resources to support outreach efforts.
- Track and report the effectiveness of marketing efforts using analytics and relevant metrics; make recommendations accordingly.
- Coordinate marketing implementation with other departments as needed.
- Assist with market research, data collection, and related reporting.
- Maintain schedules for marketing activities and ensure deadlines are met.
- Coordinate multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining organization, timelines, and clear communication with stakeholders.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
