Job Description

Based in Clear Lake, IA, the Clear Lake Mirror Reporter is seeking an Advertising/Marketing Specialist to drive print, internet, and event calendar advertising. This role emphasizes relationship-building and consultative selling in a fast-paced setting, helping local businesses reach their target audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Prospect & Build Relationships: Actively seek out new leads and develop relationships with businesses to understand their advertising needs.
  • Sell Advertising Solutions: Present and sell advertising solutions including internet advertising and event calendar ad placements, to help businesses enhance their visibility and reach their target audience.
  • Consultative Selling: Act as a trusted advisor to clients by offering tailored advertising solutions that align with their business goals.
  • Maintain Knowledge of Products: Stay up to date on the latest trends and developments in digital advertising and continually learn about new product offerings and features.
  • Achieve Sales Goals: Meet and exceed monthly and quarterly sales targets by managing a pipeline of prospects and consistently closing deals.
  • Provide Excellent Customer Service: Ensure ongoing client satisfaction by managing relationships post-sale, providing insights on campaign performance, and addressing any concerns.
  • Collaborate with Teams: Work closely with the marketing and operations teams to ensure smooth campaign execution and client success.

Requirements

  • Personable & Client-Focused: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with a wide range of clients.
  • Self-Motivated & Eager to Learn: A strong drive to learn about new advertising products and trends in digital marketing independently.
  • Sales Experience: 1-3 years of sales experience in print, digital, or media environment is preferred, but not required. Entry-level candidates with a passion for sales and marketing are welcome to apply.
  • Digital Marketing Knowledge: Basic understanding of internet advertising and event calendars. Willingness to continuously expand knowledge in these areas.
  • Reliability & Accountability: Proven track record of being reliable, meeting deadlines, and following through on commitments.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively pitch products and explain technical details to non-technical clients.
  • Results-Oriented: Strong focus on achieving results and reaching sales targets.
